Lord,
Things are messy, everything feels urgent. You’re not surprised. Knowing that brings comfort, but we’re still anxious creatures. While we’d like for You to fix everything all at once, You have this deliberate habit of allowing tension in order to make necessary adjustments in us, or to show Your glory through us.
When money’s short, You remind us You’ll supply our needs. You ask us to remember how You’ve supplied over and again. Often in unusual ways, showing us and our observers that it is You, not our efforts, providing.
When patience is short, You remind us that there is a time for everything under the sun. You ask us to remember that You are sovereign over all that happens in our finite realm. We can do nothing of value without You, we can accomplish the impossible with You.
When anxieties are high, You remind us that Your grace is sufficient for everything we’re facing now and in the future. You ask us to remember the peace that comes from being still & knowing You are God. You have promised that You will keep us in perfect peace when our minds are focused on You.
Please, help us focus, grant us peace, lead us to Your priority so we can be present when You accomplish the impossible, when You supply the needs – our own and those of the people we’re trying to serve.
The waves are high, threatening to capsize the ship, drown all aboard, and sink the meager supplies we carry. We’re tempted to ask if You care… but if we slow down, we’ll remember You care more than we do.
Please, speak Peace.
