…for Christmas music, as Whitney Houston sings through the overhead speakers in the cafeteria. It’s not the hospital cafeteria nor the break room at the office we’ve leased for seven years, but the new space across the road.
…for office parties, ours is tomorrow at a Mexican restaurant a few doors up. My green shirt and red jacket are in the car already. There will be gifts…and don’t ask what I’ll frantically buy at the last minute. You’ll get a classic deer-in-headlights look by way of response.
…for connecting with friends. I have two on the calendar for this evening. One will be a hug-n-run at a coffee shop, then a dash to the other home before it gets too dark to see. A cataract has been an unwelcome learning opportunity lately. No night driving & people are happy to help. I’m learning.
…for life changes, from the Savior’s birth to modern resolution making. We look forward to a worldwide encouragement to put away the old habits and start the new. Here at the new work site, it means upping my professional game. I admit to some slacking, even before Covid.
…for hope, as Advent wreaths and calendars proclaim. Way before that, angels announced that the Bringer of Hope was arriving. Way before that, prophecies told how to recognize Him. Now, we seek to introduce Him to those who don’t know. In this place, today, my hope for our progress with that is much stronger.
